GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Methodist men's and women's cross country teams were in action at the Greensboro XC Invitational on Saturday, hosted by Greensboro College.
Kayla Beavers led all Methodist women with a time of 23:20, putting her in 54th place overall. Katherine Flournoy followed shortly after Beavers, finishing in 56th place in 23:28.
Bianca Smith-Paez was the next Monarch to cross the line, placing 59th with a time of 23:34. Following Smith-Paez was
Kristin Fletcher who finished in 24:22, placing 66th. Also running for Methodist was
Sarah Stapleton (72nd) and Katrina Halldorsdottir (85th) who finished in 25:09 and 26:37, respectively.
Overall, Methodist finished tied for third place with Shaw University, garnering 133 points with a total time of 1:59:55. UNC Chapel Hill Club XC/T took home the win for the women with a total time of 1:38:56, with its senior runner Jenny Drabble taking home the individual title with a time of 19:21.
On the men's side,
Paul Brown continues to lead the Monarchs, finishing in 52nd with a time 31:16. David Pittard followed a minute later, placing 57th in 32:07.
Daniel Castano was next to finish, grabbing 67th in 33:14. After Castano came Sebastian Mendoza, crossing the line in 33:56 in 70th place.
Donte Smith (77th) and
Trevor Thompson (83rd) capped off the men's performances, clipping the tape in 35:15 and 38:07.
The Monarchs travel to Orlando, Fla. on Saturday to compete in the Walt Disney XC Classic.
