FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Methodist's
Laura Baker was named the USA South women's tennis player of the week for the week ending Mar. 17 the league announced on Monday afternoon.
Baker helped the Monarchs to a 5-0 record over the past week as she was unbeaten in five matches at No. 2 doubles while teaming with Kat Meindl to post a 5-0 record at No. 1 doubles. The Monarchs ran their record to 8-2 on the year with wins over Marietta, St. Mary's (Md.) and Ohio Wesleyan down in Hilton Head, S.C. Methodist then defeated conference foes Ferrum and Maryville over the weekend.
In singles, she dropped just three games in winning all five of her matches in straight sets, including 6-0, 6-0 wins over Marietta and Ferrum.
In doubles, she and Meindl dropped just four games in the last week winning three of their five matches by the score of 8-0.
Methodist is back in action on Wednesday when it host Greensboro at 3:30 pm.
