FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Methodist University Director of Athletics, Bob McEvoy, has announced the hiring of Tameka Delmar to take over as head coach of the cheer program.

Delmar joins the Monarchs after spending the last two years as head coach at Cape Fear Community College.

"Tameka bringsa wealth of successful cheer coaching experience and other impressive coaching credentials and certifications," McEvoy said. "She has also demonstrated a great enthusiasm and passion for cheer in her past head coaching positions and I look forward to seeing her bringing that same energy to the Monarchs in the years ahead."

Delmar brings nearly 10 years of cheer coaching experience to Methodist. Prior to her time at Cape Fear, she spent time at the high school and recreation levels. During her coaching career at the high school level, Delmar's team advanced to the Canam Nationals twice where they played in the top ten.

"I'm very happy about the position," Delmar said. "I am excited about the team and joining the Methodist staff. I loved the school colors (as a George Mason graduate), the small school and the family oriented atmosphere."

Delmar earned her bachelor's degree from George Mason University and recently completed her master's degree from Concordia University.
