FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Each year, the Methodist Department of Athletics honors the male and female student-athletes with the highest cumulative grade point average.
These annual awards are based upon the fall and spring semesters (it is not cumulative). The recipients must be varsity athletes, full-time students for both semesters and the two-semester GPA must be at least 3.2.
Recently finishing her sophomore year on the softball team,
Marcy McKee boasts a 3.93 grade point average this year while collecting USA South Athletic Conference First Team honors along with Second Team All-Region accolades. Originally from Milford, Del., McKee is also a two-time Methodist Scholar Athlete and USA South Academic All-Conference selection.
Greg Patterson recently finished his sophomore year on the men's tennis team carrying a 3.97 grade point average this year. A native of Elon, N.C., Patterson went 12-9 in singles and 16-6 in doubles dual matches this season on the way to earning USA South Honorable Mention recognition. He is also a two-time Methodist Scholar Athlete and USA South Academic All-Conference selection.
The awards are to be presented at the fall Convocation Sept. 10 at 11 a.m.
