HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - The Methodist men's golf team shaved eight strokes on their team score Thursday to create distance from the field while they held onto second place. Oglethorpe maintains a stronghold on the lead at 867 (285-292-290) while the Monarchs are in second at 883 (291-300-292). Transylvania is nine strokes back in third at 892 (308-288-296).
Oglethorpe's Anthony Maccaglia had another sparkling round finishing four under for the day with a 68. He has a seven stroke lead over teammate Hayden Jones with a three-day total of 207 (68-71-68).
Methodist's
Mike Duncan made a run up the standings finishing three under on Thursday with seven birdies. The senior is currently tied for sixth at 219 (75-75-69).
Andrew Bateman shot a 74 to jump five spots into a tie for 12th at 221 (70-77-74).
Robby Bruns had a tough front nine, but came back and finished three under on the back nine to tie for 31st with a 225 (76-72-77).
Dakun Chang made a leap up the standings on Thursday with an even par 72 to tie Bruns and five other competitors at 225 (77-76-72).
Mike Wesko managed four birdies on the day, but is currently tied for 52nd at 230 (70-77-83).
The tournament concludes on Friday as the field plays the final round on the El Campeon course. Wesko will start things off for the Monarchs as they tee off beginning at 9:05 a.m. Fans can follow along with live scoring
