FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Methodist softball team is pleased to announce they will host a Military Appreciation Day Saturday, Mar. 31 in conjunction with their doubleheader against Averett University.

An Air Force veteran himself, head coach Ron Simpson is extremely cognizant of the military presence in the Fayetteville area and amongst his team. Of his husband-wife assistant coaches, Tammy Newman is a captain in the U.S. Army and a number of players have family members currently or formerly serving in the military.

The softball team would like to invite everyone to this special event. The festivities are scheduled to begin at approximately 2:25 p.m. with the posting of the colors by the Methodist University ROTC in preparation for a 3 p.m. doubleheader. The National Guard-sponsored #88 NASCAR show car will be on display and there will be a special rocket firing after the national anthem.

Admission is free. For more information on the event, please contact Ron Simpson at rsimpson@methodist.edu or 910.630.7290.
