FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Methodist women's tennis team took a 3-0 lead over Meredith after doubles, but rainfall in the area shortly after singles forced the match to be postponed until next week.

Rachel Purser and Dana Powell set the tone early with an 8-0 win at number two doubles. Kelli Shelton and Stacey Brooks earned the 8-6 win at number three before Katherine Meindl and Laura Baker came from behind to win 8-6 at number one doubles against Mereidth's regionally ranked number one doubles team.

All six singles matches were in progress when the match was called. Powell is head 2-0 at number four and Shelton is ahead 3-0 at number five. Purser is tied 1-1 while the other three matches still stand at 0-0. Meindl is playing number one while Baker is at number three and Lauryn Justice is playing number six.

The two teams are scheduled to resume play on Thursday, Mar. 29. Methodist will be back in action on Saturday when they host Ferrum and Coker beginning at 1 p.m.
