MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- Methodist University junior Brad Wade has been named to the d3football.com 2012 All-South Region First Team as a defensive end as announced on Tuesday night.
Wade, who was also a First Team All-USA South selection, became the first Monarch to be honored by d3football.com after a near record-setting season. He compiled a league-leading 13.5 sacks and 22 tackles for loss, and finished the regular season ranked fourth in NCAA Division III in sacks. His sack total fell just a half sack shy of tying for the single-season record (14) at Methodist and he recorded multiple sacks in four separate games, including a 4.0 sack performance in a 34-13 win over N.C. Wesleyan.
He finished the season with 53 total tackles and added three pass breakups, three forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and he blocked one kick. Wade was one of 77 players selected to one of the All-South teams from a pool of 230 nominations.
Methodist wrapped up its best season since 2007, finishing at 5-5 overall and 4-3 in the USA South after winning each of its final three games.
