GREENSBORO, N.C. - Three Methodist University track and field athletes competed at the North Carolina A&T Invitational Sunday in a final tune up before the NCAA Championships May 27-29.
Freshman
Ruby Blackwell set new school records in the 100 and 200 meter races. She placed fourth overall and second amongst collegiate athletes in the 100 meters finishing in 11.99 seconds. In the 200 meters, Blackwell ran the fastest time in Division III this year at 24.33 seconds. Placing fourth overall, she was the top collegiate athlete in the race.
Freshman
Aaron Holmes won his heat in the 400 meter hurdles in 55.83 seconds to place 14th overall at the meet.
Stefan Johnson finished 25th in the 200 meters in 22.19 seconds after finishing fourth in his heat.
Six Monarchs have qualified for the NCAA Championships at Baldwiin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio May 27-29.
Ashlynn Chavis will compete in the long jump and Blackwell has qualified in the 100 and 200 meters.
Cedric McGill qualified for the 100 meters while
Greg Bailey and Johnson will compete in the 200 meters. McGill, Bailey, Johnson and
Pierson Singleton will combine for the 4x100 meter relay.
