HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire crept within a stroke on Wednesday, but the Methodist women's golf team fired a tournament low 315 in the third round to open a 20-stroke lead at 965 (317-333-315).
Gustavus Adolphus shot 322 to move into a tie with Eau Claire for second at 985. Natalie Matuszak held onto the individual lead at 233 (76-79-78).
Methodist's
Alana Swain held the lead at the turn at two over and finished with a 79. Swain (79-77-79) and teammate
Paige Caldwell (76-80-79) are both tied for second with a 235.
Gretchen McLean cut five strokes from her score for a 247 (84-84-79) and
Kelsey Magnine has a 275 (91-92-92).
Susan Martin shot a team-low 78 in the round to boost the Monarchs' score.
The Monarchs will tee off the final round on Friday at 1:20 p.m. with hopes of securing their 13th consecutive title.
