FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Methodist University is pleased to celebrate National Student-Athlete Day with the recognition of six student-athletes achieving excellence both on and off the field.

Lindsey Cosgray (Women's Lacrosse), Liam Friedman (Men's Golf), Jennifer Hamel (Women's Tennis), Brian Inghram (Baseball), Tyler Mosko (Football) and Dawn Sanderson (Women's Basketball) were selected to be honored.

National Student-Athlete Day, a program of the National Consortium for Academics and Sports (NCAS), has been celebrated annually on April 6 since 1987.

National Student-Athlete Day celebrates the outstanding achievements of college student-athletes who have excelled in academics (3.0 GPA or above) and athletics while having made significant contributions to their schools and communities.

Dr. Richard Lapchick, founder and Executive Director of the NCAS and founder and Director Emeritus of Sport in Society, hopes “that high schools, colleges and universities will take advantage of this opportunity to honor their outstanding student-athletes. National STUDENT-Athlete Day is a powerful opportunity to promote those who have become leaders and have gone above and beyond what is expected. Honored student-athletes have demonstrated the most important things we can get by being involved in sport.”
