FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The USA South has announced their Athletes of the Week. The conference gives an award for Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week for each sport active during that week.
Kaitlin Flaherty has been named the USA South Women's Tennis Player of the Week. The League City, Texas junior posted a 2-0 record at both the number-one singles and doubles positions last week for the Monarchs. In singles play, Flaherty earned wins over the top players from USA South rivals Meredith and Ferrum. In doubles action, Flaherty teamed with
Katherine Meindl to defeat the top duos from Meredith and Ferrum.
Sean Willingham was selected as the USA South Baseball Rookie Pitcher of the Week. The Garner, North Carolina freshman recorded win in his only appearance for the Monarchs last week. In a 16-8 victory over Tufts, Willingham gave up just two hits in five innings of work helping Methodist to a 12-1 lead. He allowed one walk while striking out six batters in the victory.
