FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The USA South has announced their Athletes of the Week.  The conference gives an award for Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week for each sport active during that week.

Jordan Adams has been named the USA South Softball Rookie of the Week. The freshman infielder from Wilmington, North Carolina hit .462 (6-for-13) with seven runs scored, three RBI, seven walks, six stolen bases and one sacrifice hits in a 3-3 week for the Monarchs. In a doubleheader sweep of USA South foe N.C. Wesleyan, Adams was a combined 3-for-4 with four runs scored, two RBI, three walks, four stolen bases and one sacrifice hit. In two losses to USA South rival Christopher Newport, Adams was a combined 0-for-3 with two walks. Finally, in a doubleheader split with Rutgers-Camden, Adams was a combined 3-for-6 with three runs scored, one run batted in, two walks and two stolen bases.

Matthew Taylor was selected as the USA South Men's Tennis Player of the Week. The Waynesboro, Pennsylvania junior has posted a 5-2 record at the number-one singles position and a 6-1 mark at the number-one doubles spot over the past two weeks for the Monarchs. In singles play, Taylor earned wins over top players from Wittenberg, Eastern Nazarene, Wooster, USA South foe Greensboro and Guilford. In doubles action, Taylor's only loss came against the top team from nationally-ranked Washington (Mo.).

Dana Powell has been chosen as the USA South Women's Tennis Player of the Week. The Richmond, Virginia sophomore has posted a 6-0 combined record at the number-four and five singles positions and a 4-2 mark at the number-two doubles spot over the past two weeks for the Monarchs. In singles play, Powell earned one win at the number-four spot and five victories at the number-five position. Included in those singles wins were victories over opponents from USA South foes Greensboro and Mary Baldwin.

Ryan Stack was named the USA South Baseball Rookie of the Week. The freshman designated hitter from Sanford, North Carolina hit .500 (3-for-6) with one run batted in and one walk in a 2-1 week for the Monarchs. In a 6-1 loss to Rhodes, Stack was 1-for-3 with one walk. In an 8-7 victory over USA South foe Ferrum, Stack was 2-for-3 with one run batted in.
