Monarchs Earn Shutout Over Greensboro

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Methodist men's tennis team opened USA South Athletic Conference play on Tuesday with a resounding 9-0 win over Greensboro College.

The Monarchs kicked off the match with a 3-0 lead after doubles. Matthew Taylor and Robert Clayton won 8-0 at number one and Steve Burkett and Reid Baker won 8-1 at number two. Steve Strawn and Ricky Aybar finished with the 8-0 win at number three.

Taylor won 6-2, 6-0 at number one and Clayton picked up the 6-0, 6-4 win at number two. Brad Tulenko won 6-1, 6-0 at number six and Warren Robinson won 6-1, 6-1 at number four. Burkett won 6-0, 6-0 at number five and Baker won 6-2, 6-3 at number three.

The Monarchs will host Guilford in a non-conference match on Sunday at 1 p.m.
