NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - After last weekend's meet was canceled, the Methodist University track and field team was anxious to compete at the Vince Brown Invitational this weekend.
Methodist freshman
Ruby Blackwell led the female sprinters with a 10th place finish in the 55 meters (7.43 seconds) and the 200 meters (26.85 seconds) before placing fourth in the 400 meters in 1:00.32.
Junior
Kristyn Zeiler set school records once again in the 800 meters and a new one to her resume, the 5000 meters. Zeiler finished 16th in the 800 in 2:27.43 and ran the 5000 meters in 17:57.39 to place second. Sophomore
Ashley Selfridge earned a 10th place finish in the shot put, throwing for a distance of 10.95 meters.
On the men's side, freshman
Stefan Johnson led five Methodist student-athletes in the 55 meters finishing 14th in 6.59 seconds. Junior
Greg Bailey paced the Monarchs in the 200 meters placing 12th in 23.23 seconds. Senior
Cedric McGill ran a personal best in the 200 finishing in 24.08 seconds.
Sophomore
Petros Bein advanced to the finals of the 55 meter hurdles and finished 11th in 7.90 seconds. Freshman
Chauncey Edwards placed 10th in the triple jump with a leap of 12.29 meters.

Lloyd Bronner finished fifth in 3:34.23.
The Monarchs are scheduled to compete at the Carolina Invitational Feb. 12
