CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The Methodist University track and field team opened the spring semester by competing at the Kent Taylor UNC Classic on Saturday.
Methodist junior
Kristyn Zeiler broke her own school records in the 800 meters and mile run. She placed 22nd in the 800 in 2:29.09 before finishing 11th in the mile in 5:17.57.
During the men's 60 meter preliminaries, senior
Cedric McGill finished in 7.07 seconds and freshman
Stefan Johnson finished in 7.16 seconds. Junior
Greg Bailey was right behind in 7.19 seconds.
Johnson led the Monarchs in the 200 meters placing 11th in a personal best 22.88 seconds. Bailey finished 27th in 23.45 seconds.
Freshman
Aaron Holmes ran the 400 meters in 53.01 seconds and sophomore
Petros Bein competed in the 60 meter hurdles, finishing 20th in 8.60 seconds.
Methodist will head back to UNC-Chapel Hill for the UNC Open Jan. 29-30.
