FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The USA South has announced their Athletes of the Week. The conference gives an award for Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week for each sport active during that week.
Kristyn Zeiler has been named the USA South Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week. The junior from Lutherville, Maryland placed second overall at the Citadel Invitational last week. Zeiler placed first out of 76 non-Division-I runners with a time of 18:37 on the 5K course.
Aaron Holmes was selected as the USA South Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Week. The freshman from Fayetteville, North Carolina placed 26th at the Citadel Invitational last week. Holmes placed 26th out of 68, non-Division-I runners with a time of 30:51 on the 8K course.
Andrew Schwepfinger was named the USA South Men's Tennis Rookie of the Week. The freshman from Allentown, Pennsylvania tallied a 2-1 singles record and a 3-1 doubles mark at the ITA Regional Tournament last week. In the "A" singles bracket of the tournament, Schwepfinger won two matches before falling to the eighth-seeded player from Emory. In doubles action, in the "A" bracket, Schwepfinger teamed with Rob Schmidt to advance to the tournament semifinals, upsetting the top-seeded team from N.C. Wesleyan along the way.
