FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Methodist University cheerleading team welcomed four other teams to a two-day National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) College Cheer Camp.

NC State University, Virginia Commonwealth University, Barton College and NC Wesleyan College all traveled to the Methodist campus for a camp led by the NCA. Teams will be training Tuesday and Wednesday at the March F. Riddle Center in preparation for the 2009-10 season.

Teams who earn superior ribbons in all evaluations will receive a bid to the NCA Collegiate Cheer Championship in Daytona Beach, Fla. April 7-11, 2010.

"Our goal is to get a bid for nationals, but this is the first time competing against other teams so it is great experience for our team," Methodist head coach Melissa Hay said.

The Monarchs will continue their preparation throughout the fall before competing at the USA South Cheer Championship Nov. 22.
