Alex Bass have been named the Female Scholar Athletes of the Year.
The Scholar Athletes of the Year are presented to the student-athletes with the highest grade point average and must be full-time students and varsity athletes. The student-athletes will be honored during the fall convocation ceremony.

Stephen Fox achieved a 3.94 cumulative grade point average in his sophomore year. Fox saw action in 17 games for the men's soccer team during the 2008 season as a key player in the Monarchs' defense. Fox is pursuing a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Sport Management.
Kristyn Zeiler and
Alex Bass both earned a 4.00 grade point average this year. Zeiler was a standout for both the cross country and track and field teams. She was named to the USA South Third Team All-Conference in cross country while earning Mason Dixon All-Conference honors in both indoor and outdoor track. She capped off her sophomore year by winning the conference championship in the 1500 meters. A native of Lutherville, Md., Zeiler is a Pre-Physician's Assistant major.
A sophomore transfer, Bass spent time in the pitching circle and at the plate for the Methodist softball team. She made 19 appearances in the circle finishing with a 3.05 earned run average and a team-high 94 strikeouts. Bass also contributed as a designated player batting .211 with eight RBI.
