FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Methodist University has announced the addition of a marching band for the 2009-10 academic year.

Charles Dumas joins the Methodist staff to direct the new band. A 20-year public school educator, Dumas brings a wealth of experience, most recently from Douglas Byrd High School. For the last few years the Monarchs have had a pep band to support football and basketball teams, but the "Pride of the Carolinas" marching band will debut Sept. 5 at Campbell University for the first football game of the year.
