Methodist Men Place Third at National Championship

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - The Methodist men's golf team shot 300 in the final round of the 2009 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship to finish in third place at 1171 (279-303-289-300).
Oglethorpe won with a score of 1164 (301-284-290-289) while La Verne scored 1168 (292-283-302-291). Methodist finished third at 1171 (279-303-289-300) and the University of Texas-Tyler was fourth at 1184 (291-302-293-298).
Oglethorpe's Olafur Loftsson and La Verne's Mitchell Fedorka finished the fourth round tied at 285, but Loftsson won the individual title in a one-hole playoff. Rizal Amin of La Verne finished third at 287.
Methodist's
Matt Bova finished in a tie for fourth at 291 (71-73-72-75).
Josh Schrader and
Tom Cooper tied for 13th at 295 and
Trey Howell finished 29th at 299.
Jake Pleczkowski tied for 34th at 301.
