Methodist Lacrosse Falls to Greensboro in Tournament Semifinal
Krystal Poirier scored two goals for the Monarchs
BURLINGTON, N.C. - Methodist started out strong, but the Greensboro Pride used a seven goal run to take control and win 21-9 in the USA South Tournament semifinal.

Methodist scored the first two goals of the game, but Greensboro came back and tied it up at two. The Monarchs’ Jasmine Stephens scored to put Methodist up by one and Greensboro called a timeout. They responded with a seven goal run to take the 9-3 lead. The Pride finished the first half with the 14-5 lead.

The Monarchs opened the scoring in the second half, but the Pride went on a six-goal run to distance themselves from Methodist. The Monarchs stopped the run with three goals, but the Pride capped off the day with a goal at the buzzer to win 21-9.

Chelsea Farley led all scorers with seven goals for Greensboro. Melissa Gallaher added five goals with three assists while Layne Woodard scored four goals.

Stephens paced the Monarchs with five goals while Krystal Poirier and Amber Jurkovac added two a piece.

Stacey Pulskamp made seven saves for the Pride while Lindsey Cosgray had one save for the Monarchs.

Greensboro advances to face top seeded Christopher Newport in the tournament championship Saturday at 1 pm.
