FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Methodist University has set a date for its annual NCAA® Basketball Take A Kid to the Game® day for February 10, 2009 where they will host the Averett University Cougars at 5:30 pm and 7:30 pm in the March F. Riddle Center on the campus of Methodist University.

Area youth 14 and under are invited to attend this special event free of charge. Youth will have the opportunity to experience the college game-day atmosphere and some exciting action as they watch the Monarchs compete for a win over the Cougars.

Methodist University is hosting one of more than 700 games that will be played across the nation as part of the Take A Kid to the Game (TAKG) program in its 13th season. The project is a grass roots initiative that attracts the nation's youth and encourages adults to take kids to area college basketball games.

“It is our hope that adults in the community will bring their children out to experience a collegiate athletic event at Methodist University,” said DeeDee Jarman, head coach for the Lady Monarchs basketball team. “We're expecting a record crowd to take part in the intense basketball action during both games!"

Adult tickets for this special game can be purchased at the door. For more information, contact the Methodist University Athletic Department at (910) 630-7175.
