FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The USA South Athletic Conference has announced its All-Conference awards for women's soccer. A total of 55 student-athletes have been named to the USA South All-Conference teams including five Methodist players.
Meredith College's Alex Calvert has been named the Player of the Year while her coach, Paul Smith, earned Coach of the Year honors. Additionally, Amber Womack from Shenandoah University was named Rookie of the Year. Finally, the USA South recognized an All-Sportsmanship Team consisting of one member from each competing school. All awards are voted on by the women's soccer coach at each institution.
Methodist junior
Kelly Orpin and sophomore
Danielle Minichello were named to the Second Team this season. Orpin has been a mainstay on the Methodist defense over the past three seasons and finished the regular season with a goal and two assists. Minichello led the Monarchs in scoring with seven goals and four assists in 19 starts.
Senior
Whitney Roberson was named to the Third Team after scoring six goals and adding two assists for the Monarchs. Joining Roberson was senior defender
Erica Nath who has started in every game and picked up two goals with three assists.
Senior midfielder
Ashley Kolano was an Honorable Mention selection in the midfield scoring a goal with three assists in 18 starts during the regular season.
Sophomore
Christine Ellington was selected to represent the Monarchs on the All-Sportsmanship team earning 19 starts and scoring one goal this season.
The Monarchs advanced to the USA South Tournament semifinals after defeating Shenandoah in penalty kicks on Tuesday. Methodist will take on Meredith on Friday with the opportunity to face the winner of Christopher Newport and Greensboro in the championship.
