USA South Soccer and Volleyball Tournament Seedings Announced

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The USA South Athletic Conference has announced the tournament seeding for men's soccer, women's soccer and volleyball with first round games all scheduled to begin Tuesday, Nov. 3.

The Methodist men's soccer team has been seeded third in the tournament with a 4-2 conference record. The Monarchs are scheduled to host #6 Shenandoah at 2:30 pm Tuesday. The winner will face #2 N.C. Wesleyan in the semifinal. The semifinal and championship games will be played on Friday and Saturday, November 6 and 7 at the Smith River Sports Complex in Martinsville, Virginia. In the previous match-up with Shenandoah, Methodist defeated the Hornets 2-1 in the final game of the regular season. Tournament Web Site

The 2009 Men's Soccer Tournament seeding is as follows:

The women's soccer team has earned the fifth seed in the tournament after finishing with a 5-3-1 USA South record. Methodist will travel to #4 Shenandoah for a 7 pm kickoff in Winchester, Va. The winner will face the winner of #1 Meredith and #8 Ferrum in the semifinal. The semifinal and championship games will follow the same format as the men's tournament at the Smith River Sports Complex in Martinsville, Virginia. In the previous match-up with Shenandoah, the Hornets took a 2-0 win earlier this season. Tournament Web Site

The Methodist volleyball team finished with the fourth seed in the tournament with a 10-8 conference record. The Monarchs will host #5 Ferrum on Tuesday at 7 pm in the first round. The winner will advance to the semifinals. The semifinals and championship match will be played on Friday and Saturday, November 6 and 7 at the highest remaining seed after the second round has concluded. An official tournament web site will be developed once the semifinals have been set.
