FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The USA South Athletic Conference has announced its Runner, Rookie and Coach of the Year awards for men's and women's cross country. For the women, Methodist University's Kristyn Zeiler was named Runner of the Year
Shenandoah University's Roni Frye earned Rookie of the Year honors while her coach, Andrew Marrocco captured Coach of the Year accolades. On the men's side, Christopher Newport University's Corey Lofton and Aaron Zook took Runner and Rookie of the Year honors, respectfully, while Shenandoah's Andrew Marrocco earned Coach of the Year accolades. Also, the USA South recognized an All-Sportsmanship Team, consisting of one member from each competing school. All honors were determined by votes from the cross country coach at each institution.
Zeiler, a junior from Lutherville, Maryland, earned top female runner honors. She had a season-best time of 18:05 at the 5,000 meter UNC-Wilmington Invitational where she placed first overall out of 38 runners. Zeiler won three of the four events in which she competed this season. Additionally, she received four USA South Runner of the Week honors this fall. Both the Men's and Women's USA South All-Conference teams will consist of the top-15 finishers in each race at the Conference Championship Meet on Saturday, October 31 at Hagan Stone Park in Greensboro, North Carolina.
