FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Methodist recognized four seniors prior to kickoff on Saturday in celebration of "senior day" before taking an early 1-0 lead over Meredith College. The Avenging Angels came back with two second half goals to earn the 2-1 win.

In the 18th minute of play, Methodist senior Erica Nath fed a long ball over the defense to sophomore Jillian Reed. Reed blasted a shot to the far post over the Meredith goalkeeper to give the Monarchs the early 1-0 lead.

Methodist (8-8-1, 4-2-1) held the 1-0 lead at half, but Meredith (12-3-1, 6-1) tied the game in the 67th minute on a header off of a corner kick. Both teams had opportunities to break the tie, but it was Meredith who capitalized with the game-winning goal in the 80th minute on another header off of a free kick.

Methodist junior Kasey Nichols made four saves while Sarah Chadwick had three stops for Meredith.

The Monarchs host Peace in their final regular season home game tomorrow at 2 pm.
